Why Choose Naples and Its Surrounding Areas?

Naples offers a very different lifestyle from Italy’s northern cities, combining a densely populated historic centre with coastal neighbourhoods, established residential districts and communities stretching around the Bay of Naples. For people relocating from the UK, the city offers a warmer Mediterranean climate, comparatively affordable living, excellent food and easy access to the Amalfi Coast, islands and wider Campania region.

Popular Areas

Naples varies considerably from one district to another. Chiaia is an attractive and lively area close to the seafront, with shops, restaurants and apartments, while Vomero sits above the centre and is popular with families and professionals looking for a more residential environment.

Posillipo offers coastal views and a quieter setting west of the centre, while areas around Mergellina combine waterfront living with good connections into the city. Families looking beyond Naples itself may also consider communities around the Bay of Naples and surrounding Campania region.

Schools and Education

Naples has Italian state and private schools alongside international and bilingual education options for families arriving from overseas. International schooling is available in the wider Naples area, making school location an important consideration before choosing a property.

For higher education, the city is home to several institutions including the historic University of Naples Federico II, attracting students and academics from Italy and abroad.

Healthcare

Residents who meet the relevant requirements can register with Italy’s Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN). Naples has major public hospitals, university medical centres, specialist facilities and private healthcare providers.

Important facilities include Azienda Ospedaliera dei Colli and the Federico II University Hospital, while private clinics and English-speaking medical professionals provide additional options.

Property and Access

Property in Naples ranges from historic city-centre apartments to modern residential developments and larger homes in surrounding areas. Older apartment buildings can have small lifts, narrow staircases and restricted entrances, making access particularly important when planning a removal.

Naples is also a busy and densely developed city. Narrow streets, controlled traffic zones and limited parking can make some addresses unsuitable for a larger removal vehicle, so we establish access arrangements before delivery.

Restaurants and Lifestyle

Food is a major part of life in Naples. The city is internationally associated with Neapolitan pizza, but its food culture also includes seafood, pasta, street food, cafés and traditional neighbourhood restaurants.

The waterfront, historic centre and districts such as Chiaia provide a lively social scene, while the Mediterranean climate allows outdoor dining and coastal activities for much of the year.

Transport and Connections

Naples has Metro, suburban rail, bus and funicular services, with rail connections extending around the Bay of Naples and into the wider Campania region. High-speed trains connect Napoli Centrale with Rome, Florence, Bologna and Milan.

Naples International Airport provides connections across Europe, while the city’s ports provide ferry services to islands including Ischia and Capri.

The Bay of Naples and Surrounding Areas

One of the biggest attractions of living in Naples is the variety of destinations nearby. Sorrento, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Mount Vesuvius and the islands of Ischia and Capri are all within the wider region.

Removal logistics can change significantly outside the city. Coastal and hillside properties may involve steep roads, tight bends, narrow entrances or limited vehicle access, while island moves require separate ferry arrangements. We therefore plan these deliveries according to the exact property rather than treating the whole Naples region as a standard city delivery.

Our Removal Services

Our removal services include dedicated vehicles and flexible part-load groupage options, allowing us to provide the right service for anything from a few boxes to a complete household move.

Dedicated Luton Van

Ideal for: Apartments, student relocations and smaller household moves.

Our dedicated Luton vans offer approximately 18m³ of loading space with a payload of around 1,000kg, making them an ideal option for smaller household removals. Our standard service includes an experienced driver who assists with loading and unloading, with a second removal porter available where required.

As the vehicle is dedicated solely to your move, your belongings remain on the same van from collection through to delivery, with no transhipping or sharing of vehicle space with other customers.

Their smaller size makes Luton vans particularly useful for city and town moves, apartments and properties where access may be difficult for larger removal vehicles. Protective removal blankets and securing straps are used to protect and secure your belongings throughout the journey.

Our Removals Process

  • The Key Is Establishing the Volume

The first step is establishing how much you have to move. You can send us a list of the items, photographs or a WhatsApp video, and we’ll use this to assess the volume. If you already know the approximate volume or the type of removal vehicle you require, we can quote on that basis instead.

We’ll also need to know where you’re moving from and to, along with any important access information at either property. This might include restricted parking, narrow roads, stairs, lifts or anything else that could affect the collection or delivery.

Once we understand your move, we’ll prepare a clear quotation based on the service you need and work with you to arrange suitable collection and delivery dates. Where customs procedures are required, we’ll advise you on the documents we need from you and take care of the customs work associated with your removal.

Once everything is arranged, you can leave the rest to us. Our team will take care of the collection, customs procedures where required, secure transport and delivery of your belongings, keeping you informed throughout and making the whole process as straightforward as possible.

Key Considerations When Moving Abroad

  • Documents, Dates and Planning Ahead

When moving your belongings abroad, it is important to start gathering the documents that may be required for customs clearance. Requirements vary between countries and according to your individual circumstances, but commonly requested documents can include a copy of your passport, a detailed packing list, proof of your previous residence and evidence of your new residence abroad.

As a useful starting point, we recommend having proof of residence covering the previous 12 months, details of your new address and a clear inventory of the household goods you are moving. Additional documents may be required depending on the destination and whether you are transferring your normal residence. Your move manager will advise you on the documentation required for your particular move and help you through the customs process.

It is also worth establishing your moving dates as early as possible. Think about the earliest date your belongings will be ready for collection, the latest date you need to leave your current property and the earliest date you can receive your belongings at your new home. This helps us plan the most suitable collection and delivery schedule.

If there is a gap between leaving one property and gaining access to the next, you may need storage as part of your move. Let us know when discussing your requirements and we can take this into account when planning your removal.

Removals to Naples FAQs

How does Naples fit into your Italy part-load route?

Naples is one of the more southerly destinations on our UK-to-Italy part-load routes. We generally make deliveries in northern Italy first and then work our way down the country towards destinations such as Naples.

This means customers moving to Naples should allow more flexibility than those receiving a part-load in northern Italy. On the return journey, we make UK-bound collections as we work our way back north.

How long does a dedicated van from the UK to Naples take?

A dedicated van to Naples normally takes around 2–3 days from collection in the UK. The vehicle is allocated specifically to your move and travels directly rather than following the multiple delivery schedule of a groupage service.

Naples is a long drive from the UK, so exact timings remain subject to customs clearance, drivers’ hours, traffic and access at the delivery property.

Can you deliver into central Naples?

Yes, but we need to check the address carefully. Naples has restricted traffic zones, narrow streets, heavy traffic and areas where parking a removal vehicle close to the property can be difficult.

Where our main vehicle cannot reach the address, we can plan the delivery differently and use a smaller shuttle vehicle if required.

I’m moving into a Naples apartment. What access details do you need?

Please tell us the floor level, lift availability and dimensions, staircase width, entrance access and where our vehicle can stop. We also need to know about courtyards, gates or a long carry between the vehicle and apartment.

Older buildings can have very small lifts or narrow staircases, so photographs and measurements are useful where access looks difficult.

If I book a dedicated van to Naples, does weight matter?

Yes. Our dedicated vans can carry approximately 1,000 kg, so we have to consider both the volume and weight of your belongings.

A load containing lots of books, tools, gym equipment, records, marble or stone furniture and other heavy items can reach the vehicle’s weight limit before the load space is full.

What happens with customs before you deliver to Naples?

Used household and personal effects are generally straightforward to clear into the EU when the correct documentation has been prepared.

New goods can require additional customs procedures and may mean we need to attend customs. We work with a customs partner in Varese in northern Italy, allowing us to complete any necessary formalities before continuing south towards Naples.

Can you move my belongings from the UK to Ischia?

Yes, but an island delivery needs additional planning. The removal vehicle has to travel by ferry from the Italian mainland, and commercial vehicle arrangements need to be made separately from the main UK-to-Italy journey.

Vehicle dimensions are important when arranging the crossing, so we plan the ferry and final delivery around the removal vehicle being used for your move.

Do you cover Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast from Naples?

Yes. We can arrange removals throughout the wider Campania region, including Sorrento and destinations around the Amalfi Coast.

However, these should not be treated as standard Naples deliveries. Coastal roads, steep approaches, narrow streets and restricted access can make the final delivery considerably more involved, and a smaller shuttle vehicle may sometimes be required.

Is part-load suitable for a small move all the way to Naples?

Yes. Part-load can be particularly cost-effective when you’re moving a smaller quantity of belongings over such a long distance and don’t need an entire vehicle.

Because Naples is towards the southern end of our Italian route, you need to be flexible with delivery dates while we complete the northern and central Italian deliveries ahead of you.

Can you collect in Naples for a removal back to the UK?

Yes. We provide Naples-to-UK removals as well as UK-to-Naples services. Naples works particularly well with the way we operate our return groupage routes: after completing our deliveries as we travel south, we begin making UK-bound collections as we work our way back north.

If you require collection on a particular date, we can instead arrange a dedicated vehicle specifically for your move back to the UK.
