Straightforward Removals to Tuscany from the UK
Moving your belongings from the UK to Tuscany requires careful planning, particularly when the final destination is a rural property, villa or historic town. Our experienced removal teams handle your possessions carefully from collection through to delivery, using secure transportation and appropriate protective equipment throughout the journey.
We provide part-load and groupage removals to Tuscany for smaller moves and customers with flexible dates, alongside dedicated removal services for larger household moves or when collection and delivery dates are important. We cover the whole region, from major cities and towns to more remote countryside locations.
A complete professional packing service is also available. We can pack your entire household or protect individual furniture, artwork, fragile belongings and other items requiring additional preparation for the journey to Italy.
Household goods moving from the UK to Tuscany require customs clearance. Used household effects are generally straightforward to clear when the correct documentation is prepared, while new goods may require additional customs procedures. We can guide you through the paperwork and work with our Italian customs partner before continuing to your final destination in Tuscany.

What Our Customers Say About Us.
Why Choose Tuscany and Its Surrounding Areas?
Tuscany offers a very different choice of lifestyles, from historic cities and lively university towns to small hilltop communities, vineyards and isolated country properties. For people relocating from the UK, the attraction is often the combination of climate, countryside, culture and a slower pace of life, while still having good connections to Florence, Pisa and the rest of Italy.
Popular Areas
Florence is the region’s largest city and main economic centre, while Lucca is popular for its attractive historic centre and access to the Tuscan countryside. Pisa combines an international airport with a substantial university community, and Siena offers a smaller historic-city environment surrounded by rural Tuscany.
For a more countryside-based lifestyle, areas such as Chianti, Val d’Orcia and the hills around Arezzo offer villas, farmhouses and smaller communities. Coastal Tuscany provides another option, with towns stretching from the Versilia coast south towards the Maremma.
Schools and Education
Families have access to Italian state and private schools, with international and bilingual education concentrated mainly around Florence and other larger centres. Where you choose to live can therefore make a considerable difference to the daily school journey.
Tuscany also has major universities in Florence, Pisa and Siena, helping give the region a significant international student and academic population.
Healthcare
Residents who meet the relevant requirements can access Italy’s Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), with hospitals and healthcare facilities across the region.
Major cities provide the widest choice of hospitals, specialists and private healthcare. Anyone considering a particularly rural property should also look at the distance to their nearest hospital, GP services and pharmacy, as journeys can be considerably longer than in the main cities.
Property and Rural Living
Tuscany offers everything from city apartments to stone farmhouses, villas, converted agricultural buildings and properties with substantial land. Rural homes can provide considerably more space and privacy but may also be some distance from shops, schools and other everyday services.
Property access deserves particular attention when planning a removal. Long gravel drives, narrow lanes, overhanging trees, steep gradients and tight gateways are common considerations with countryside properties.
Transport and Connections
Florence and Pisa airports provide useful international connections, while the main rail network connects Florence with Rome, Bologna and northern Italy. Away from the larger towns and cities, however, having a car becomes considerably more important.
Driving times in rural Tuscany can also be deceptive. A property may appear close to a major town on a map but take considerably longer to reach because of winding country and hillside roads.
Food, Wine and Lifestyle
Food and wine are central to Tuscan life, with the region known for Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, traditional trattorias, local markets and simple regional cooking. Florence, Siena and Lucca provide restaurants and cultural attractions, while smaller towns offer a more traditional community atmosphere.
The countryside also provides extensive opportunities for walking, cycling and exploring, while Tuscany’s western coastline gives residents access to beaches and coastal resorts.
Moving to Rural Tuscany
This is where a Tuscany removal can differ considerably from a normal city delivery. A full-size removal vehicle may be perfectly suitable for the journey from the UK but unable to negotiate the final few kilometres to a remote villa or farmhouse.
We therefore ask customers with rural properties to tell us about narrow roads, low trees, steep drives, gateways and turning space. Photographs or video of difficult access can be extremely useful. Where necessary, we can plan the final delivery using a smaller shuttle vehicle rather than discovering an access problem when we arrive.
Our Removal Services
Our removal services include dedicated vehicles and flexible part-load groupage options, allowing us to provide the right service for anything from a few boxes to a complete household move.
Dedicated Luton Van
Ideal for: Apartments, student relocations and smaller household moves.
Our dedicated Luton vans offer approximately 18m³ of loading space with a payload of around 1,000kg, making them an ideal option for smaller household removals. Our standard service includes an experienced driver who assists with loading and unloading, with a second removal porter available where required.
As the vehicle is dedicated solely to your move, your belongings remain on the same van from collection through to delivery, with no transhipping or sharing of vehicle space with other customers.
Their smaller size makes Luton vans particularly useful for city and town moves, apartments and properties where access may be difficult for larger removal vehicles. Protective removal blankets and securing straps are used to protect and secure your belongings throughout the journey.
Dedicated 7.5 Tonne Removal Truck
Ideal for: 2–3 bedroom family homes and medium-sized household removals.
Our dedicated 7.5 tonne removal trucks provide approximately 33m³ of loading space with a payload of around 3,000kg, making them well suited to medium-sized household removals where a Luton van doesn’t provide sufficient capacity.
The vehicle is reserved solely for your removal, with your belongings remaining on the same truck from collection through to delivery. There is no transhipping or sharing of vehicle space with other customers, helping reduce unnecessary handling during the journey.
Professional loading and unloading assistance is included, with additional crew members available where required. The 7.5 tonne truck provides considerably more capacity than a Luton while still being a practical option for many residential locations where access for a larger 18 tonne vehicle may be more difficult.
Dedicated 18 Tonne Removal Truck
Ideal for: Large family homes and complete household relocations.
For larger household removals, our dedicated 18 tonne removal trucks provide approximately 55m³ of loading space with payloads of up to 9,000kg, making them particularly suitable for substantial moves involving larger quantities of furniture, appliances, boxes and personal belongings.
The truck is reserved exclusively for your removal, with your belongings remaining on the same vehicle from collection through to delivery, without being transferred or combined with other customers’ consignments.
Professional loading and unloading is included, with the appropriate removal crew arranged according to the size and requirements of your move. Access is particularly important with a vehicle of this size, so we’ll assess this in advance and can discuss alternative vehicle or shuttle arrangements where direct access isn’t possible.
Dedicated Vehicle Service
A dedicated removal vehicle provides the most direct and flexible option for moving your belongings. Depending on the size and weight of your move, we can provide a Luton van, 7.5 tonne truck or larger 18 tonne removal vehicle reserved exclusively for your relocation.
Your belongings remain on the same vehicle from collection through to delivery, with no transhipping or consolidation with other customers’ goods. This reduces unnecessary handling and gives us greater flexibility when arranging collection, transit and delivery around your requirements.
Dedicated removals can also provide faster transit times than groupage because the vehicle is travelling specifically for your move rather than coordinating several customers’ collections and deliveries along the route.
This service is particularly suitable for customers working to fixed dates, relocating for employment, moving larger households or simply wanting a direct door-to-door service with greater control over their collection and delivery schedule.
Part Load & Groupage
Our part-load and groupage removals provide a more economical alternative to a dedicated vehicle and can accommodate anything from a few boxes and individual pieces of furniture through to larger or complete household removals.
By combining several customers’ consignments travelling along similar routes, transport costs can be shared between the different moves. This can significantly reduce the cost compared with reserving an entire vehicle, particularly where collection and delivery dates are flexible.
We’ll coordinate your removal with other consignments travelling in the same direction and provide an estimated collection and delivery schedule. Your belongings are carefully protected, clearly identified and handled professionally throughout the journey.
Groupage isn’t limited to small moves. It can also be a cost-effective option for larger household removals where you don’t require a vehicle exclusively for your belongings and can offer some flexibility with your moving dates.
Tailored to Your Move
Every removal is different, which is why we tailor the service around your individual requirements rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package.
We’ll consider the volume and weight of your belongings, access at collection and delivery, your preferred dates and the level of assistance required before recommending the most appropriate vehicle and service. This could be a dedicated Luton van, 7.5 tonne or 18 tonne truck, or a more economical part-load and groupage service.
We can also arrange professional packing, export wrapping and additional loading or unloading assistance where required. Secure short- or long-term storage can be incorporated into your removal if your collection and delivery dates don’t coincide.
Whether you’re moving a few personal belongings or the contents of a complete family home, we’ll build the service around your move and provide a quotation based on your particular requirements.
Our Removals Process
-
The Key Is Establishing the Volume
The first step is establishing how much you have to move. You can send us a list of the items, photographs or a WhatsApp video, and we’ll use this to assess the volume. If you already know the approximate volume or the type of removal vehicle you require, we can quote on that basis instead.
We’ll also need to know where you’re moving from and to, along with any important access information at either property. This might include restricted parking, narrow roads, stairs, lifts or anything else that could affect the collection or delivery.
Once we understand your move, we’ll prepare a clear quotation based on the service you need and work with you to arrange suitable collection and delivery dates. Where customs procedures are required, we’ll advise you on the documents we need from you and take care of the customs work associated with your removal.
Once everything is arranged, you can leave the rest to us. Our team will take care of the collection, customs procedures where required, secure transport and delivery of your belongings, keeping you informed throughout and making the whole process as straightforward as possible.

Key Considerations When Moving Abroad
-
Documents, Dates and Planning Ahead
When moving your belongings abroad, it is important to start gathering the documents that may be required for customs clearance. Requirements vary between countries and according to your individual circumstances, but commonly requested documents can include a copy of your passport, a detailed packing list, proof of your previous residence and evidence of your new residence abroad.
As a useful starting point, we recommend having proof of residence covering the previous 12 months, details of your new address and a clear inventory of the household goods you are moving. Additional documents may be required depending on the destination and whether you are transferring your normal residence. Your move manager will advise you on the documentation required for your particular move and help you through the customs process.
It is also worth establishing your moving dates as early as possible. Think about the earliest date your belongings will be ready for collection, the latest date you need to leave your current property and the earliest date you can receive your belongings at your new home. This helps us plan the most suitable collection and delivery schedule.
If there is a gap between leaving one property and gaining access to the next, you may need storage as part of your move. Let us know when discussing your requirements and we can take this into account when planning your removal.

Removals to Tuscany FAQs
How does Tuscany fit into your Italy part-load route?
We generally make our northern Italian deliveries first and then work our way south, with Tuscan deliveries made as the vehicle progresses through Italy. The exact order depends on where each customer is located, as Tuscany covers a large area and many deliveries are outside the main cities.
On the return journey, we make UK-bound collections as we work our way back north.
How long does a dedicated van from the UK to Tuscany take?
A dedicated van to Tuscany normally takes around 2–3 days from collection in the UK. Because the vehicle is allocated specifically to your move, we can travel directly to your destination rather than following a multi-customer groupage schedule.
The exact timing depends on your location, customs clearance, drivers’ hours and access at the property.
Does a remote property in Tuscany cost more than a delivery to Florence or Pisa?
It can. Tuscany is a large region and some countryside properties involve considerable additional mileage away from our main Italian route.
We price according to the actual address rather than charging everyone the same. A remote farmhouse requiring several hours of additional driving or a shuttle vehicle will naturally cost more to service than an easily accessible property close to our route.
Can your removal vans reach rural Tuscan villas and farmhouses?
Often they can, but this is something we prefer to establish before the vehicle arrives. Rural Tuscany can involve narrow lanes, steep gradients, tight bends, low trees, small gateways and properties with very limited turning space.
If you’re unsure, send us photographs or a short video showing the approach, entrance and parking area. We can then assess whether the main vehicle is suitable.
What happens if your removal vehicle cannot reach my property?
We can arrange a smaller shuttle vehicle for the final part of the delivery. Your belongings are transferred from the main removal vehicle and taken to the property in smaller loads.
This is particularly useful for hilltop villages, historic centres and rural properties where the access road or gateway is unsuitable for the vehicle carrying your goods from the UK.
If I book a dedicated van to Tuscany, does weight matter?
Yes. Our dedicated vans can carry approximately 1,000 kg, so both weight and volume matter.
This is particularly worth considering with Tuscan properties if you’re moving books, tools, workshop equipment, garden items, wine collections or heavy furniture. A van can reach its legal payload before the available load space is completely full.
What happens with customs before you deliver to Tuscany?
Used household and personal effects are generally straightforward to clear into the EU when the correct documentation has been prepared.
New goods can require additional customs procedures and may mean we need to attend customs. We work with a customs partner in Varese, allowing us to deal with the necessary formalities in northern Italy before continuing towards Tuscany.
Can you deliver into Tuscany’s historic hill towns?
Yes, but access needs to be checked carefully. Many historic centres have ZTL restrictions, narrow streets, pedestrian areas and very limited space for larger vehicles.
In some locations the sensible option is to park outside the restricted or inaccessible area and complete the final delivery with a smaller vehicle. Tell us the exact address when requesting your quotation so we can plan accordingly.
I’m buying a second home in Tuscany rather than relocating permanently. Can you still move my belongings?
Yes, but please tell us that when requesting your quotation because customs treatment can differ from a transfer of normal residence.
We also need to know if the shipment includes recently purchased or new furniture rather than solely used personal belongings, as new goods can require different customs procedures.
Can you collect from a Tuscan property for a move back to the UK?
Yes. We provide Tuscany-to-UK removals as well as UK-to-Tuscany services. Part-load collections can often be incorporated as our vehicles work their way back north after completing their Italian deliveries.
For a remote property, we consider the additional mileage and vehicle access when planning the collection. If you need collection on a fixed date, we can also arrange a dedicated removal to the UK.
