Straightforward Removals to Zurich from the UK
Our removals to Zurich from the UK provide a carefully planned door-to-door service, with experienced removal teams managing your belongings from collection through to delivery in Switzerland. We use secure transport and appropriate protective equipment throughout the journey, with each move planned around your volume, access and preferred dates.
We offer both part-load and dedicated removals to Zurich. Part loads provide a cost-effective option for smaller moves when you have some flexibility with collection and delivery dates, while a dedicated vehicle is ideal for larger household moves or customers working to a specific schedule. Professional packing can also be arranged if required.
Switzerland is outside the EU and has its own customs procedures for importing household belongings. People transferring their normal residence to Switzerland can generally import qualifying used household effects without Swiss import duties and VAT, provided the relevant conditions are met. We can guide you through the removal documentation and customs requirements before your belongings leave the UK.

What Our Customers Say About Us.
Why Choose Zurich and Its Surrounding Areas?
Zurich combines the opportunities of Switzerland’s largest city with an exceptionally high standard of living, attractive lakeside surroundings and quick access to mountains and countryside. For people relocating from the UK, it offers a strong employment market, efficient public transport, international schools and a large expatriate community. Although living costs are high, salaries are generally correspondingly strong, and the city regularly attracts professionals working in finance, technology, pharmaceuticals and international business.
Popular Areas
Zurich is divided into 12 districts, or Kreise, with neighbourhoods ranging from busy central areas to quieter residential districts.
Kreis 1, incorporating the Altstadt or Old Town, places residents right in the historic heart of Zurich. It is ideal for city-centre living but properties are often apartments in older buildings, and narrow streets, pedestrian areas and restricted parking can make removals more complicated.
Enge is particularly attractive for professionals and families wanting to remain close to the centre while enjoying easy access to Lake Zurich. Nearby Wollishofen has a more residential atmosphere and is popular with people looking for additional space without moving too far from the city.
Zurichberg is one of Zurich’s prestigious residential areas, with larger properties, attractive views and a greener setting above the city. Seefeld, on the eastern shore of Lake Zurich, is another highly desirable location, particularly for professionals wanting restaurants, cafés and lakeside amenities close by.
Families also frequently look beyond the city boundary towards places such as Küsnacht, Zollikon, Thalwil and Horgen, which offer excellent transport links into Zurich while providing a more suburban or lakeside environment.
Employment and International Community
Zurich is Switzerland’s principal financial and commercial centre and home to numerous banks, insurance companies and international businesses. Technology has also become increasingly important, alongside engineering, professional services and life sciences.
The international nature of the economy means English is widely used in many workplaces. German is the principal official language, while Swiss German is commonly spoken in everyday life. Learning German can therefore make settling into the area considerably easier.
Zurich’s international population makes it a relatively easy Swiss city in which to meet other people who have relocated from overseas, particularly within professional and business communities.
Schools and Family Life
Zurich offers an excellent environment for families, with Swiss state schools alongside a selection of international and bilingual schools in Zurich and the surrounding canton.
One of the biggest attractions is the amount of outdoor space available close to the city. Lake Zurich is central to everyday life, particularly during the warmer months, while hills, forests and walking routes are easily accessible. The Swiss Alps are also close enough for skiing, hiking and weekend trips without needing lengthy journeys.
Restaurants, Culture and Social Life
Zurich has considerably more to offer socially than its reputation as a financial centre might suggest. The Old Town contains traditional Swiss restaurants, bars and cafés, while areas such as Zurich-West have developed around converted industrial buildings and now contain restaurants, cultural venues and nightlife.
The lakefront becomes a major social area during summer, while the city has museums, galleries, theatres and a busy calendar of events throughout the year.
Transport and Connections
Public transport is one of Zurich’s major advantages. Trams, trains, buses and boats provide extensive connections across the city and surrounding region, making living outside the centre particularly practical.
Zurich Hauptbahnhof is one of Switzerland’s principal railway hubs, with direct connections throughout the country and international services into neighbouring European countries. Zurich Airport is also exceptionally well connected to the city by rail.
For motorists, Switzerland’s motorway network provides straightforward routes towards Basel, Bern, Lucerne and the Alps, although city-centre parking can be limited and expensive.
Moving to Zurich from the UK
Removals to Zurich require more customs planning than moves to destinations within the EU. Switzerland operates its own import procedures, so the correct documentation needs to be prepared before household belongings cross the Swiss border.
Access also deserves consideration. Central Zurich can involve restricted streets, limited parking, apartment buildings and properties where a larger removal vehicle cannot stop immediately outside. More suburban areas generally provide easier access, although steep roads and property-specific restrictions can still affect delivery.
Providing us with details of parking, floor level, lifts and any access restrictions in advance allows us to plan the most appropriate vehicle and unloading arrangements.
For people moving from the UK, Zurich offers a particularly attractive combination of career opportunities, efficient infrastructure, lakeside living and easy access to some of Switzerland’s most impressive countryside.
Our Removal Services
Our removal services include dedicated vehicles and flexible part-load groupage options, allowing us to provide the right service for anything from a few boxes to a complete household move.
Dedicated Luton Van
Ideal for: Apartments, student relocations and smaller household moves.
Our dedicated Luton vans offer approximately 18m³ of loading space with a payload of around 1,000kg, making them an ideal option for smaller household removals. Our standard service includes an experienced driver who assists with loading and unloading, with a second removal porter available where required.
As the vehicle is dedicated solely to your move, your belongings remain on the same van from collection through to delivery, with no transhipping or sharing of vehicle space with other customers.
Their smaller size makes Luton vans particularly useful for city and town moves, apartments and properties where access may be difficult for larger removal vehicles. Protective removal blankets and securing straps are used to protect and secure your belongings throughout the journey.
Dedicated 7.5 Tonne Removal Truck
Ideal for: 2–3 bedroom family homes and medium-sized household removals.
Our dedicated 7.5 tonne removal trucks provide approximately 33m³ of loading space with a payload of around 3,000kg, making them well suited to medium-sized household removals where a Luton van doesn’t provide sufficient capacity.
The vehicle is reserved solely for your removal, with your belongings remaining on the same truck from collection through to delivery. There is no transhipping or sharing of vehicle space with other customers, helping reduce unnecessary handling during the journey.
Professional loading and unloading assistance is included, with additional crew members available where required. The 7.5 tonne truck provides considerably more capacity than a Luton while still being a practical option for many residential locations where access for a larger 18 tonne vehicle may be more difficult.
Dedicated 18 Tonne Removal Truck
Ideal for: Large family homes and complete household relocations.
For larger household removals, our dedicated 18 tonne removal trucks provide approximately 55m³ of loading space with payloads of up to 9,000kg, making them particularly suitable for substantial moves involving larger quantities of furniture, appliances, boxes and personal belongings.
The truck is reserved exclusively for your removal, with your belongings remaining on the same vehicle from collection through to delivery, without being transferred or combined with other customers’ consignments.
Professional loading and unloading is included, with the appropriate removal crew arranged according to the size and requirements of your move. Access is particularly important with a vehicle of this size, so we’ll assess this in advance and can discuss alternative vehicle or shuttle arrangements where direct access isn’t possible.
Dedicated Vehicle Service
A dedicated removal vehicle provides the most direct and flexible option for moving your belongings. Depending on the size and weight of your move, we can provide a Luton van, 7.5 tonne truck or larger 18 tonne removal vehicle reserved exclusively for your relocation.
Your belongings remain on the same vehicle from collection through to delivery, with no transhipping or consolidation with other customers’ goods. This reduces unnecessary handling and gives us greater flexibility when arranging collection, transit and delivery around your requirements.
Dedicated removals can also provide faster transit times than groupage because the vehicle is travelling specifically for your move rather than coordinating several customers’ collections and deliveries along the route.
This service is particularly suitable for customers working to fixed dates, relocating for employment, moving larger households or simply wanting a direct door-to-door service with greater control over their collection and delivery schedule.
Part Load & Groupage
Our part-load and groupage removals provide a more economical alternative to a dedicated vehicle and can accommodate anything from a few boxes and individual pieces of furniture through to larger or complete household removals.
By combining several customers’ consignments travelling along similar routes, transport costs can be shared between the different moves. This can significantly reduce the cost compared with reserving an entire vehicle, particularly where collection and delivery dates are flexible.
We’ll coordinate your removal with other consignments travelling in the same direction and provide an estimated collection and delivery schedule. Your belongings are carefully protected, clearly identified and handled professionally throughout the journey.
Groupage isn’t limited to small moves. It can also be a cost-effective option for larger household removals where you don’t require a vehicle exclusively for your belongings and can offer some flexibility with your moving dates.
Tailored to Your Move
Every removal is different, which is why we tailor the service around your individual requirements rather than offering a one-size-fits-all package.
We’ll consider the volume and weight of your belongings, access at collection and delivery, your preferred dates and the level of assistance required before recommending the most appropriate vehicle and service. This could be a dedicated Luton van, 7.5 tonne or 18 tonne truck, or a more economical part-load and groupage service.
We can also arrange professional packing, export wrapping and additional loading or unloading assistance where required. Secure short- or long-term storage can be incorporated into your removal if your collection and delivery dates don’t coincide.
Whether you’re moving a few personal belongings or the contents of a complete family home, we’ll build the service around your move and provide a quotation based on your particular requirements.
Our Removals Process
-
The Key Is Establishing the Volume
The first step is establishing how much you have to move. You can send us a list of the items, photographs or a WhatsApp video, and we’ll use this to assess the volume. If you already know the approximate volume or the type of removal vehicle you require, we can quote on that basis instead.
We’ll also need to know where you’re moving from and to, along with any important access information at either property. This might include restricted parking, narrow roads, stairs, lifts or anything else that could affect the collection or delivery.
Once we understand your move, we’ll prepare a clear quotation based on the service you need and work with you to arrange suitable collection and delivery dates. Where customs procedures are required, we’ll advise you on the documents we need from you and take care of the customs work associated with your removal.
Once everything is arranged, you can leave the rest to us. Our team will take care of the collection, customs procedures where required, secure transport and delivery of your belongings, keeping you informed throughout and making the whole process as straightforward as possible.

Key Considerations When Moving Abroad
-
Documents, Dates and Planning Ahead
When moving your belongings abroad, it is important to start gathering the documents that may be required for customs clearance. Requirements vary between countries and according to your individual circumstances, but commonly requested documents can include a copy of your passport, a detailed packing list, proof of your previous residence and evidence of your new residence abroad.
As a useful starting point, we recommend having proof of residence covering the previous 12 months, details of your new address and a clear inventory of the household goods you are moving. Additional documents may be required depending on the destination and whether you are transferring your normal residence. Your move manager will advise you on the documentation required for your particular move and help you through the customs process.
It is also worth establishing your moving dates as early as possible. Think about the earliest date your belongings will be ready for collection, the latest date you need to leave your current property and the earliest date you can receive your belongings at your new home. This helps us plan the most suitable collection and delivery schedule.
If there is a gap between leaving one property and gaining access to the next, you may need storage as part of your move. Let us know when discussing your requirements and we can take this into account when planning your removal.

From collection through to delivery, we’ll take care of the details and make your move as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
Removals to Zurich FAQs
How do you move belongings from the UK to Zurich?
We collect your belongings directly from your UK property and transport them by road to Zurich. Depending on the size of your move and your preferred dates, we can arrange either a part-load service or a dedicated vehicle reserved entirely for your belongings.
How long does a dedicated removal to Zurich take?
A dedicated vehicle provides the quickest and most direct option because the journey is planned specifically around your move. Exact timings depend on your UK collection location, Channel crossing, route, Swiss customs clearance and permitted driver hours.
Do you offer part-load removals to Zurich?
Yes. Part-load removals are particularly suitable for smaller moves where you have some flexibility with collection and delivery dates. Your belongings travel securely alongside other customers’ consignments heading towards Switzerland or compatible destinations.
Can I import my household belongings into Switzerland tax free?
People transferring their normal residence to Switzerland can generally import qualifying used household effects without Swiss import duties and VAT, provided the relevant conditions are met. Swiss customs rules are different from EU procedures, so the correct documentation needs to be prepared before the vehicle reaches the Swiss border.
What customs paperwork is needed when moving to Zurich?
You will normally need documentation relating to your move, identity, Swiss residence and an inventory of the household goods being imported. The precise requirements depend on your circumstances. We can help you prepare the removal-related paperwork and explain what is required for Swiss customs clearance.
Are removals difficult in central Zurich?
Some addresses can be challenging for larger removal vehicles. Central areas may have restricted access, limited parking and apartment buildings where the vehicle cannot stop immediately outside. We ask for details of the property, parking, floor level and lift access before delivery so the move can be planned correctly.
Do you cover areas around Lake Zurich as well as the city?
Yes. In addition to Zurich itself, we can deliver to surrounding locations including Küsnacht, Zollikon, Thalwil, Horgen and other communities around Lake Zurich and throughout the canton.
Is a part load or dedicated vehicle better for a move to Zurich?
A part load is generally the most economical option for a smaller shipment when your dates are flexible. Dedicated transport is better suited to larger household moves, fixed collection or delivery dates, or customers wanting the vehicle reserved exclusively for their belongings.
Can you collect for a Zurich removal from anywhere in the UK?
Yes. We arrange collections throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Your belongings are collected directly from your home and transported onwards to Switzerland, so there is no need to bring them to a UK depot yourself.
Can you arrange removals from Zurich back to the UK?
Yes. We provide removals from Zurich to the UK as well as outbound services to Switzerland. Both part-load and dedicated options are available, and we can guide you through the customs requirements for bringing qualifying household belongings back into the UK.
