For stays longer than 90 days, UK citizens who aren’t protected by the Withdrawal Agreement generally need an appropriate residence permit or long-stay visa according to the purpose of their stay. Different arrangements apply to qualifying UK citizens whose Slovenian residence rights are protected under the Withdrawal Agreement.

Household belongings transported from Great Britain into Slovenia enter the EU from a third country. Slovenia provides customs duty and VAT relief for qualifying personal property when someone transfers their normal residence from outside the EU.

Transfer of Residence Relief:
To qualify, you must generally have lived outside the EU for at least 12 months and have owned or used the qualifying personal property for at least six months before moving. The belongings must continue to be used for the same purpose at your new residence, and the relief generally needs to be claimed within 12 months of transferring your normal residence.
